Study Overview
What
is a Home Study?
A
home study is completed by a certified adoption agency. It is an official record
of different aspects of a family’s house, income, history and other
facts.
Why
do I need a home study?
A
family wanting to adopt needs a good home study. This document is submitted to
case workers of the children that the family has an interest in adopting. The
caseworker then uses the home study for an assessment of the compatibility of
the children and the family. This is a summary of your life, your income, your
home, and your interests. It represents you during the adoption
process.
How
much does a home study cost?
The
price of a home study varies from agency to agency. At A Family for Every Child
there is a flat rate of 500$ for a home study, which is cheaper than many
places.
How
long does a home study take to get?
The
waiting time for a home study varies from agency to agency. If a family decides
to go through the Department of Human Services for a home study, they can end up
waiting over a year for just this important document. The private agencies tend
to have a shorter waiting time, but more often than not, they charge more. A
Family for Every Child is dedicated to starting the home study process
immediately after a family decides to choose this agency. To learn more about
