Helpful Webinar

Hello families!

I recieved a list of some upcoming webinars that are very helpful for families adopting, or considering adopting.  I have done a few of these, and have learned quite a bit!

I will update again and let you know more that are coming up as well.  Or just go to the website and check it out for yourselves.

C.A.S.E. is a private, non-profit adoptive family support center. Its programs focus on helping children from a variety of foster care and adoptive backgrounds to receive understanding and support which will enable them to grow into successful, productive adults.

IS IT ADOPTION OR SOMETHING ELSE: ANXIETY IN ADOPTED CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS
Tuesday, September 20
9:00 – 10:30 p.m. EST
Erin Berman, Ph.D. and Debbie Riley, M.S., C.A.S.E. CEO

Dr. Berman is a Clinical Psychologist at the National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda, MD. She received her doctoral degree from Rosalind Franklin University/The Chicago Medical School. Dr. Berman was a Harvard Medical School Fellowship recipient and completed post-doctoral specialization in child and adolescent anxiety disorders at Temple University.

When a child is challenged by behaviors and symptoms of anxiety, adoptive parents often wonder if and how being adopted is part of the equation. Dr. Berman and Ms. Riley will address what parents need to know about this complex dynamic as well as how to best help their child. Effective treatment approaches that combine an adoption-competent model with recent advances in research will be explored, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and use of medication. Fee: $25
